Fields Of Hope
2016 was a rough year for many of us. However, we here at the Pixie News Booth firmly believe that there is a silver lining to every cloud (even if it’s a year-sized cloud).
So, here are a few great things that happened in 2016, in no particular order:
- The gene responsible for ALS has been identified.
- Tiger population numbers rose.
- The Chicago Cubs won the world series.
- Leonardo DiCaprio finally got that Oscar!
- The giant panda is no longer endangered.
- FairyABC returned!
- Colombia reached a peace deal.
- Gene editing!!!
- Sri Lanka is malaria-free.
- Pokemon GO exists.
- Goats have been proven to be as intelligent as dogs 😀
- Juno successfully entered Jupiter’s orbit!
- Child mortality rates are down!!
And even more, so much that we couldn’t hope to compile it into one list.
So, even though we shouldn’t forget the bad things, we shouldn’t lose sight of the amazing things 🙂
I believe that we, as humans and pixies alike, should not dwell on the past. Memories can fill us with nostalgia, but they can also take hold of us, and cause us to miss the good things happening right in front of our noses!
So, as we enter a new year, full of opportunity and potential, remember to be mindful, live in-the-moment, and to take advantage of every chance you can get! After all, these will be the memories of tomorrow 🙂
To add on to Misty’s thoughts on our future versus our past, here are some wonderful quotes and sayings for the new year!
“…What’s happened in your past is not near as important as what’s in your future.”
— Joel Osteen
“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”
“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth. “
— Bradley Whitford
New Year Update:
Oh, boy! It’s been quite a year with this blog.
But, despite some pretty big bumps in the road, I’m definitely not going to stop writing or delete this blog. I just might slow down a bit. Last year, my New Year’s resolutions was to have a post for every day of the year! However, the troubles I encountered this year made me realize that I need to spend more time on myself, doing what I want to do. By trying to post 365 times a year and constantly be available to pixies on the chat and be upbeat and “Raven-like”, I spread myself too thin.
But, like we here at Pixie News said, there’s a silver lining for every cloud. I realized I couldn’t be everybody’s best friend, and that I shouldn’t try to be. I found that staying true to myself can really pay off, and I think I really grew as a person.
I hope you guys can say the same, and I wish you a wonderful new year!
